I have another traffic post for you today … 

but, first, I want to let you know that I’m getting ready to head out to the 2013 Battle of Atlanta World Karate Championship …or “the Battle” as we call it. 

The Battle of Atlanta is an elite sport karate tournament held every year in Atlanta, GA. 

As part of the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA) world tour, the Battle is recognized nationally as one of the premiere events in sport karate.   

It’s also one of the most popular NASKA martial arts tournaments in the country.

Founded in 1970, by Master Joe Corley of Atlanta Extreme Warrior (formerly Joe Corley American Karate), the Battle of Atlanta is a world renowned event where students and patrons of the martial arts can witness the most amazing talent that sport karate has to offer.

Martial artists from all over take the opportunity to attend …both for the level of competition and the ability to relax and vacation in the Atlanta, Georgia area. 

The Battle of Atlanta is also one of my favorite martial arts tournaments.

I have some great memories of my times there, including hanging out with Don “the dragon” Wilson

…proudly introducing my daughter to Bill Wallace and Billy Blanks 

…and, of course, my daughter winning her first world championship at the 1999 Battle!!!

The Battle of Atlanta is a martial arts tournament that is just too big for words  –  it’s one of those things that needs to be experienced live.

One of the side benefits of “the Battle” is that, because of its size and NASKA ranking, many of the top world champions come in early on Friday and hold training seminars.

Once the seminars and training events are over, there’s the opportunity to hang out with them.

Let me tell you …these world champions may be hard workers …but they also know how to relax.

The Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel and Cobb Galleria Centre has several very nice lounge areas that are perfect for getting caught up with old friends …so you know where I’ll be at!

I can’t wait to get there!!

Keep in mind …I’m not telling you about my trip to impress you.
