Self-Improvement Tips: Brian Tracy’s “21 Success Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires” Part 6
Hello …and Welcome Back!
As part of a series of blog posts on having more success in life, I’m sharing with you some of my favorite self-improvement tips from the top personal success speakers in the world.
Currently, we’re looking at the self-improvement tips found in Brian Tracy’s book “21 Success Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires”.
Tracy’s book is based upon the 21 secrets of success that he discovered were used by all self-made millionaires to achieve their financial independence …and his belief that it is possible for us to learn these secrets through practice and repetition.
In my last post, we learned that developing the habit of paying yourself first …even if it’s a small amount at first …is a very powerful step towards becoming truly financially free and enjoying a successful life.
Tracy then explained how learning every detail of your business is an important key to success if you want to be in the top 10% of the income earners in your field.
Do the things that are important to your success.
Today, we will be learning about the next two success secrets …starting with
Brian Tracy’s Success Secret # 10 of Self-Made Millionaires
The tenth success secret of self-made millionaires is Dedicate Yourself to Serving Others.
Your rewards in life will always be in direct proportion to your service to other people.
There’s a BIG misconception “out there” that people who make a lot of money have somehow gotten lucky …or they’ve cheated others to get it.
Most people think that rich people are evil, mean, nasty, and unethical.
Nothing can be further from the truth.
So …why do most people think wealthy people are bad?
Because it’s a constant theme in every movie, TV show, and book you read.
Think about it …
Who’s the bad guy in Harry Potter?
The rich kid …and his rich dad.
Who’s the bad guy in Superman?
The rich guy, Lex Luthor.
Who’s the bad guy in Spiderman?
The rich industrialist.
And who’s the good guy in these stories?
Always an orphan.
Always someone who’s been mistreated.
Always someone who thinks that money is unimportant or unnecessary.
Take a look at the movie Titanic
…the ONLY “good guys” in that movie were the poor, broke people down in 3rd class.
FACT: We are conditioned to believe that having money is bad and that being broke is somehow better.
Not true!
In the REAL world (outside of Hollywood), the way you make a LOT of money is by serving others.
All self-made millionaires have an obsession with customer service.
They think about their customers all the time.
They are continually looking for new and better ways to serve their customers better than anyone else.
Those who provide the most value, make the most money.
Your success in life will be in direct proportion to what you do after you do what you are expected to do.
…or to rephrase that last sentence …
Always look for opportunities to do more than you are being paid for.
Always go the extra mile for your customers.
This is the foundation of any successful business and is the starting point of all personal fortunes.
Want to make more money?
It’s easy …
Figure out a way to help more people.
As the late Zig Ziglar used to say…
“You can have everything in life that you want, if you just help enough other people get what they want.”
Self-improvement tip: Every day look for ways to add more value to what you do. One small improvement in the way you serve your customers can be a major reason for your financial success. Never stop looking for those little ways to serve your customers better
Brian Tracy’s Success Secret # 11 of Self-Made Millionaires
The eleventh success secret of self-made millionaires is Be Impeccably Honest With Yourself and Others.
Your character is the most important thing that you develop in your entire life and your character is based on the quality of integrity that you practice.
The first part of integrity is to be true to yourself in all things.
Integrity is demonstrated internally by personal honesty and externally by quality work.
Be perfectly honest in everything you do and in every transaction and activity.
Then, be true to the other people in your life.
Never do or say anything that you do not believe to be right and good and honest
Refuse to compromise your integrity for anything.
This is the key because …
All successful business is based on trust.
Keep in mind that your word is your bond and your honor is everything when it comes to business.
Your success in becoming a self-made millionaire will be solely determined by the number of people who trust you
…and are willing to work for you, give you credit, lend you money, buy your products and services, and help you out during the difficult times.
Always live up to the very best that you know.
Here is a question for you to ask yourself on a regular basis:
“What kind of a world would my world be, if everyone in it was just like me?”
This question forces you to set high standards for yourself and to keep raising the bar.
Act as though your every word and action were to become a universal law.
Carry yourself as though everyone were watching you and patterning their behavior after yours.
And, when in doubt, always do the right thing …whatever it is and whatever it costs.
Remember that, when you think the thoughts and do the things that self-made millionaires do, you will begin to get the same results and benefits they do …including great success in life.
Self-improvement tip: Develop the character trait and reputation of being impeccably honest with both yourself and others. Refuse to compromise your integrity for anything.
