In today’s lesson, Dave Wood explained the difference between “on-page optimization” and “off-page optimization” and what you can do to build SEO backlinks using both.

On-Page SEO Blogging Tips:

STEP 1  –  Choose a focused subject for your blog post that is something people will actually WANT to read about.  Using subjects such as current events or hot topics of discussion will give you the best results because there are large numbers of people already searching for them.

STEP 2  –  Use a keyword tool to find the best keyword to use within your blog post that pertains to the subject that you chose in Step 1.

STEP 3  –  Place your keyword within your post with these SEO blogging tips:

– Place your keyword in the title of your post

– Use the keyword in a H1, H2, and H3 heading tag …which we learned about in our Day 2 training

– Use alternate text within the pictures in your post. Boot Camp Day 2 covers how to insert pictures into your post and how to also insert what is called an ALT tag.  For the purpose of On Page SEO, your picture title and alternative text  (ALT tag)  need to be the keyword you chose in Step 1.

– Give attention to your keywords.  Show that your keywords are important by using bold, italic and underline editing options at least once for each editing option.  Google reads the actual source code of your post and sees the HTML code for these editing options, which tells Google that those words are important.

– Keep the length of your post around 500-700 words, with your keyword appearing at least 1% of the time  (and no more than 3%)  which would equal at least 1 keyword for every 100 words.  Higher than a 3% density for keyword placement is considered “keyword stuffing” and is actually penalized by Google.

– Also, always place your keyword in the FIRST and LAST sentence of your blog post.

– Have internal linking, where you link the blog post to another page or post within your blog using your keyword as the “anchor text”.

* Blog Daily …and post good quality content on subjects that people are searching for.

* Use On Page SEO as described in this lesson with every single blog post …and, then, begin adding in Off Page SEO strategies.

* Dedicate yourself to constant learning.  Spend 1 hour a day listening to your Inner Circle audios or other motivational speakers.  Learn something new and then blog about it.

* Watch the advanced SEO training within the 15K Formula series.
