Financial Success: What Do The 4th of July, Financial Freedom, and the 2013 US Open World Karate Championship All Have In Common? Read About Financial Independence And How It Can Be Yours…

July 8, 2013 at 11:39 AM

Good morning.

I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July holidays and had a great time with your family and friends.

Did you remember to celebrate your financial freedom like I asked you to?

Did you use the 4th of July celebrations to help you imagine the day when you are celebrating your own financial independence.

Wasn’t it great that everyone was able to come together to help celebrate your financial success?!

Keep up the good thoughts.

As for me, I’m back from my weekend trip to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and the 2013 US Open World Karate Championships.

I had planned on returning home yesterday afternoon …but, as usual, decided to enjoy the weekend as much as possible …and didn’t get home until very late last night (stayed to watch the Disney fireworks).

By now, you know that I have this “bad” habit of always extending my getaways.   😉

It’s just an example of what you can do when you have financial freedom

On vacation?

Having a good time?

Like to stay another day?

Then, go ahead and do it.

Imagine being able to extend your vacation without giving it a second thought.

Let me tell you it’s a great feeling …that I want you to experience.

Check out my posts on financial success …and learn the steps to achieving financial independence.

This past weekend we celebrated the 4th of July …our country’s Independence Day.

Now it’s time for you to start planning your own financial independence …starting with how to

Achieve Financial Success

Last month, at the Orlando, Florida Millionaire Mind Intensive, we were shown what T. Harv Eker calls the world’s easiest money management system …the “jars system”.

If you remember from previous posts, the jars system is a very simple …but highly effective way to manage your money, reduce your debt, and build your wealth.

Basically, the system involves using 6 jars that you label as:  Financial Freedom Account …Long Term Savings for Spending …Education …Necessities …PLAY …and GIVE.

Every time you receive any type of income, you place a specific percentage of your income into each jar …to be used for that jar’s purpose such as your retirement, the down payment on a new car, college, etc.

Today, I’d like to talk about your PLAY account.

As you already know, working all the time isn’t good for you.

You need to reward yourself  (and your subconscious mind)  by going out and having fun.

To help you take care of your inner spirit …and recharge your batteries … 5% of your income goes into your PLAY jar

for you to “blow” on having a good time.

Celebrate Your Financial Success

Your PLAY account is to be completely spent every 30 …60 …90 days, depending on the size of the reward or gift that you are giving yourself.

In addition to my PLAY account, I set up a “spare change” PLAY account …and promised myself to spend  (blow)  the entire amount every 30 days.

Well, my 30 days was the 4th of July …so, after all the fireworks, I went into my bedroom, picked up my PLAY jar, and dumped it onto my bed.

I found myself smiling as the pile of money started to build.

There’s just something about a pile of cash, isn’t there?

Next, I counted it … $24.93

Not too bad for someone who normally doesn’t carry cash.

I have to admit that it took a little time to get away from using my credit cards to pay for everything.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t run up credit card balances  –  it’s just more convenient sometimes to pay with the cards.

So ending up with $25 in spare change was pretty good.

I was excited about it.

And I knew exactly what I was going to use it for …to treat myself to a really nice sit down meal at the Coronado Springs Resort over the weekend.

You see, at the US Open, there are a lot of activities going on in multiple rooms non-stop and I’ve always just grabbed quick meals and snacks so I wouldn’t miss anything.

This time, I decided to take some time out …relax …and have a nice dinner in between the Saturday afternoon events and the Night of Champions.

I looked at the various restaurants and chose the Maya Grill, where “the essence of ancient Mexico greets you in a majestic dining room accented by the welcoming Mayan motifs of fire, sun and water”.

Sounded good to me.

My dinner of mixed greens salad, steak tacos, coconut flan (yum), and a cup of coffee was excellent.

With tip, the check came to $55.00   (I’m a great tipper) … just a little more than the usual $11.95 self-service meal I would have normally had …but well worth it.

In addition to enjoying some really great food and atmosphere, paying for it with cash helped to “remind” my subconscious mind that I have money.

Rewarding myself to this meal definitely made the entire US Open weekend even more enjoyable.

I highly recommend going out and treating yourself to something you would like.

Do it today, if you can.

Remember …you deserve it!

To your financial success,

Doug
