Hello …and Welcome Back!

As part of a series of blog posts on having more success in life, I’m sharing with you some of my favorite self-improvement tips from the top personal success speakers in the world.

Currently, we’re looking at the self-improvement tips found in Brian Tracy’s book “21 Success Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires”.

Brian Tracy Quotes and Self-Improvement TipsTracy’s book is based upon the 21 secrets of success that he discovered were used by all self-made millionaires to achieve their financial independence …and his belief that it is possible for us to learn these secrets through practice and repetition.

In my last post, we learned that dedicating yourself to serving others plays a major role in your financial success.

Every day you need to look for ways to add more value to what you do.

Never stop looking for those little ways to improve the way you serve your customers better.

Tracy then explained how being impeccably honest with yourself and others is one of the main factors in having more financial success in life.

This is also true for building a business where your success is determined by the number of people who trust you …and are willing to work for you, give you credit, lend you money, and buy your products and services.

Today, we will be learning about the next 2 success secrets …starting with

Brian Tracy’s Success Secret # 12 of Self-Made Millionaires

Success secret number twelve is to set priorities on your activities and concentrate single mindedly on one thing at a time.

This is the key formula for high levels of productivity and performance.

With this formula, you can accomplish virtually anything you want in life.

This simple strategy has been the primary reason for the high income, wealth creation, and financial success of thousands and even millions of people.

Your ability to determine your highest priority and, then, to work on that high priority until it is completed is a test of your willpower, self-discipline, and personal character.

This can be one of the hardest things to do but also one of the most important if you want to be a success.

If there’s one thing we all suffer from, it’s “entrepreneurial ADD” …the desire to jump from one task to the next …to start multiple projects and try spinning a dozen plates at the same time.

It’s much better to prioritize what needs to be done …and, then, do it in order.

Here is the formula.

Make a list of everything you have to do before you begin and set priorities on that list by asking yourself four questions.

Question number one:  “What are my highest value activities?”  What is it that you do that is more valuable than anything else to your work and your business?

Question number two:  “Why am I on the payroll?”  What exactly have you been hired to accomplish?  Focus on results, not activities.

Question number three:  “What can I and only I do that, if done well, will make a real difference?”  This is something that only you can do.  If you don’t do it, it won’t get done.  But if you do do it, and you do it well, it can make a significant difference in your business or your personal life. What is it?

Question number four:  “What is the most valuable use of my time right now?”  There is only one answer to this question at any time.  Your ability to determine the single most valuable use of your time and then to start in on that task is the key to high productivity and financial success.

Finally, commit yourself to work single mindedly on one task, the most important task, and stay with it until it is 100% complete.

Persevere without diversion or distraction.

Push yourself to stay at the job until it is done.

When you can focus on something with laser like intensity, all your energy is poured into this ONE thing, and you have a much higher chance of actually getting it done.

All successful people have this ability… to block things out and FOCUS.

Self-improvement tip:  Develop the habit of high performance by continually setting priorities and concentrating on your highest value tasks. This habit will then become automatic and will virtually guarantee you great success in life.

Brian Tracy’s Success Secret # 13 of Self-Made Millionaires

Success secret number thirteen is to develop a reputation for speed and dependability.

Time is the currency of the 21st century.

Everyone today is in a tremendous hurry.

Customers who did not even know that they wanted a product or service now want it yesterday.

People are less and less patient for anything. Loyal customers will change suppliers overnight if someone else can serve them faster than the people they are already dealing with.

Instant gratification is no longer fast enough.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve seen someone who’s using a microwave pop open the door with 3 seconds left …because they just couldn’t wait any longer!

With people like this in the world, your job is to develop a reputation for speed.

Develop a sense of urgency.

Learn to take action quickly.

Move fast on opportunities.

Move fast when people want or need something.

Move quickly when you see something that needs to be done.

When your customer or your boss asks you to do something, drop everything else and do it so fast that they are amazed.

You have probably heard the expression,

“Whenever you want to get something done, give it to a busy man or woman.”

People who have a reputation for moving quickly tend to attract more and more opportunities and possibilities to them.

Today, it’s rare to find someone who actually does what they said they were going to do.

When you have the reputation of doing what you said you would do, you give yourself a winning edge.

People like doing business with others that are dependable.

Having this reputation will be the final proof your prospects need to move forward with their decision to do business with you.

It’s also the secret to getting great referrals.

When you can combine your ability to determine your highest priority task with the commitment to getting it done quickly and well, you will find yourself moving to the front.

More doors and opportunities will open for you than you can even imagine.

Remember that, when you think the thoughts and do the things that self-made millionaires do, you will begin to get the same results and benefits they do …including great success in life.

Self-improvement tip:  Develop the reputation of being fast and dependable.  Make it a habit to do everything quickly and be someone others can rely on.  Let it be known that if you are asked to do something, it WILL be done …and fast.
